“I Looks Forward to See The Changes They Made, ” Jason Meyers

“It’s good for our sponsors when we run strong, ” he said. “Primerica, GLR Investments, Elite Landscaping and everyone that is behind us expects us to come out here and win races. We haven’t been doing that, but as of late we have been stepping up our program. Everybody involved on this team has been giving their all to turn that around and it’s starting to pay off. It’s far from a streak though, it’s a long season and we have a long way to go. ”

After enduring some bad luck to start the season off, Meyers and his team got the ball rolling when the series returned to his home state of California. He ran very strong at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, a track he knows very well. He earned Top-Five finishes in both A-Feature events that were contested at the high-banked 1/3-mile. After some strong runs in the Deep South, he carried that momentum back to the Midwest and when the series rolled into Eldora Speedway, which had received a completely new surface in the off-season, Meyers was at the top of his game.

“The first win of the year definitely takes some pressure off, ” he said. “Like anything once you do it once you become confident that you can do it again. We got the first one out of the way and now we just have to keep on digging and get some more. ” Meyers is ready for the schedule to pick up, and he is confident that he has one of the strong teams in the pit area working on his car, led by veteran crew chief D. J. Lindsey. The team worked endlessly in the off-season to make sure all the pieces were in place as they embarked on the always grueling nine-plus month World of Outlaws schedule that will see the them compete nearly 90 times this season.

“Running well all season starts in the shop, with a good team, and the guys that prepare the equipment, ” explained the native of Clovis, California. “When you get to the middle of the summer that is when the preparation shows up, and you see who prepared through the winter and who didn’t. My guys do a great job and I am really happy with them. I think we will be prepared and that will show in the middle of the summer. We work really hard to be good in the summer. ”

A strong month of April vaulted Meyers into the sixth spot in the championship standings. Along with his win, he has racked up nine Top-10 finishes with seven of those being in the Top-Five. He is just 43 points out of the fifth position, as he continues to chase his first series title.

“You have to always pay a little bit of attention to the points, and I don’t think it’s too early to do that, ” commented Meyers. “By the end of May usually who is up at the front is who winds up at the front at the end of the year. It’s important every day, but right now we are worried about winning races. We are trying our best to win races, and if you are winning races then the points will take care of themselves. ”
