Following a weekend off from World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Series action, Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Paul McMahan is looking forward to making the trip west for two nights of racing in his home state of California. The No. 20 TSR/Bass Pro Shops/Eagle team will head to Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., for the second weekend of WoO competition Friday and Saturday (Feb. 23-24). The WoO Series won’t provide the only racing action in the state over the weekend as TSR team owner Tony Stewart will compete in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event at California Speedway in Fontana on Feb. 25.

This weekend’s WoO Sprint Series event will mark the series’ return to the 1/3-mile facility after a year’s absence. McMahan and the No. 20 TSR/Bass Pro Shops/Eagle team competed at the Thunderbowl Raceway three times in 2006 with the former National Sprint Tour Series. The team’s first two-day outing at the facility in February yielded a fast qualifying award, a third and a ninth-place finish. The team also earned a 10th-place result in October in its last Thunderbowl Raceway appearance of the year.

McMahan and the No. 20 TSR/Bass Pro Shops/Eagle team enters this weekend’s racing action ranked ninth in the WoO Sprint Series Championship standings. The team has earned one top-10 finish in three series events thus far in 2007, putting McMahan only 70 points behind series leader Donny Schatz in the championship standings.

The two-day World of Outlaws Sprint Series event at the Thunderbowl Raceway is scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Pit gates will open at 4 p. m. PST each day with the grandstands opening to the public at 5 p. m. Racing is scheduled to begin daily at 7 p. m. The Thunderbowl Raceway is located at the Tulare Fairgrounds.
