14 year-old Jimmy Moon of Sacramento, California took his first laps in a Ford Focus Midget after a great season in the Skip Barber West Series. The test was held at the All American Speedway with Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle, a leading driver career development program.
Jimmy being the calculated driver that he is took the first laps to feel out the more powerful Midget car and worked on his braking and lines. The times began to drop in the second and third session with his lines becoming almost perfect as he continued to work on his entry and exit speeds. Before the end of the day Jimmy’s times were in the low 14 sec., which is very respectable considering Jimmy’s age, experience, and track conditions. Jimmy, who is a frequent winner in the Skip Barber Series, looks for new challenges and ways to advance his young career.
“The midget was really fun to drive and a lot faster than I expected! ” commented Jimmy. “I can’t wait to test it again! ”
