For Tony Stewart Racing’s Levi Jones and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., Saturday’s 37th Annual Tony Hulman Classic event at the Terre Haute (Ind. ) Action Track will set the stage for a battle between the veteran and the rookie. One competitor has found victory lane at the facility numerous times while the other looks to get his first USAC Sprint Car Series win there.
For Jones, Saturday’s event will serve as his homecoming, as the 24-year-old veteran from nearby Olney, Ill., has already begun to form his own legacy at Terre Haute. In 2005, en route to the USAC National Sprint Car Series title, Jones went three-for-three at the facility, winning the July 22 Indiana Sprint Week event to kick off his dominating run and sweeping the final two events of the season at the track on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. In his last appearance at the facility on Oct. 7, 2006, Jones finished 18th in the USAC Sprint feature event.
