Matt Tiffany made a late move into the lead to snare his first career American Sprint Car Series feature win in Friday night’s 25-lap ASCS Rebel Region vs. Southern Tour feature event at Oglethorpe Speedway Park.
The 18-year-old racer hailing from Daytona Beach, FL, charged underneath current ASCS Southern Tour points leader Brian Smith entering turn one on the 22nd lap to take command and held on the rest of the way aboard the Don Ott-powered Independent Printing No. 19T Shaw.
Smith and Bryn Gohn led the feature field to the green flag, but it was fifth-starter T. J. Winegardner rocketing into the lead on the opening round, with Smith and seventh-starter Tiffany giving chase.
Winegardner, the current ASCS Rebel Region points leader, paced the field until the eleventh round when he suffered a blown engine, handing the lead to Smith.
Tiffany chased Smith over the ensuing rounds until he made the race-winning pass in the closing rounds. Smith settled for second, with Brian Maddox, Craig Folmar, and Stephen Darvalics rounding out the top five.
Gohn crossed the stripe in sixth, with Tyler Godwin, David Adkins, Kenny Adams and Johnny Bridges completing the top ten.
