Quotes from Paul McMahan, driver of the No. 20 TSR/Bass Pro Shops/Eagle:
Entering a weekend that will present some of the toughest competition from local drivers, is it safe to assume you’ll be elbows up at ARP and Tri-State Speedway?
“When you race with the WoO Sprint Series, you’re always elbows up. This level of racing doesn’t leave a lot of room for error and you have to remain focused throughout the season. We also know that the intensity level goes up when we race in areas that support a lot of tough, local sprint car competitors. As we head to ARP on Friday night, we know there will be up to 70 cars in the pits. The local racers in that area haven’t had a lot of good weather thus far this season, and we know that they’ll be anxious to get on the track with brand new equipment. It’s always a tough night with the WoO Sprint Series, but this weekend we’ll have even more pressure. ”
Coming off a solid top-10 finish at Eldora Speedway, it looks like the No. 20 TSR/Bass Pro Shops/Eagle team has found the beginning of the consistency that’s been so elusive. Are you looking forward to getting back into the swing of a busy season this weekend?
“Eldora really helped our confidence as a team. We had one of our best qualifying efforts of the season and the car was great. Getting a top-10 finish with such a strong field of cars in the pit area was a good end to a strong night of racing. Getting back into a pattern where we race three, four or five times a week is going to be a good adjustment. We’ve proven that we can qualify and run well. We have a strong team and all of the components are there for a great season. Kicking off the Midwestern swing with a solid night is definitely going to help us as we move forward. We need to start consistently stringing together top-10 and top-five finishes, and I think we’re going to be able to do that as the season amps up. ”
