The American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region takes part in the traditional Memorial Day holiday weekend of racing action with a pair of events this weekend.
On Saturday night, the series takes to Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte, NE, for the first time ever, before moving on to WaKeeney Speedway in WaKeeney, KS, on Sunday night. The ASCS Rocky Mountain Region forces take on the NCRA on both nights.
With just one of 17 scheduled events in the books thus far, this weekend’s events mark rounds two and three for the 2007 season.
The ASCS Rocky Mountain Region kicked off the 2007 campaign on May 12, with Don Droud, Jr., scoring his first career ASCS feature win over a 33-car field.
After capturing his first series title by notching the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region championship in 2006, Patrick Bourke of Edwards, CO, kicked off his title defense with an eleventh-place run in the series season opener.

The ASCS Rocky Mountain Region 2007 slate consists of 17 nights of action at eleven different tracks throughout Colorado, western Kansas, Wyoming, New Mexico, Nebraska and South Dakota.
The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O’Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
