Both the O’Reilly Powri series and Southern Illinois Raceway opened their respective 2007 seasons this past weekend with Powri performing at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in Jacksonville, Illinois and the Logan County Fairgrounds in Lincoln, Illinois. Arkansas’ Travis Senter won both events placing him at the top of the 2007 Powri Micro Sprint point standings.
Creal Springs, Illinois driver Eric Edwards dominated most of the 25 lap Powri 600 Micro Sprint feature event Saturday night at Southern Illinois raceway, but crossed the finish line just a few feet in front of Phillip Bundren and Rick Odum. Other feature winners at Saturday night at SIR included J. R. Mason in the Junior class, Kyle Neal in the Restrictor class and Randy Jones in the non-winged event. Southern Illinois Raceway is one of two O’Reilly Powri weekly sanctioned racetracks in Southern Illinois.
