Officials of the United States Auto Club announced today that Richard Petty Driving Experience (RPDE) will become the presenting sponsor of the USAC Wednesday Night Thunder midget racing series competing at Mt. Lawn Speedway (New Castle, IN) and Plymouth Speedway (Plymouth, IN). The Series races every Wednesday night through the end of August. Richard Petty Driving Experience will also become the “Official Driving Experience” of USAC.

Drivers in all three Wednesday Night Thunder Presented by Richard Petty Driving Experience divisions will compete on a head-to-head basis using the international points system for the Adam Petty Trophy, given to the overall champion. In addition to the Adam Petty Trophy, Richard Petty Driving Experience will supply a $3,000 points fund and RPDE programs to the top three drivers.

“Adam Petty personified the best attributes a young driver can bring to our sport, and what better way to recognize our young drivers than with a trophy in his name, ” said Eric Bunn, Series Coordinator for Wednesday Night Thunder Presented by the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Bunn continued, “Our association with Richard Petty Driving Experience will help take our Wednesday Night Thunder to a whole new level of excitement for both our competitors and our fans. ”

“Richard Petty Driving Experience is excited about formalizing its relationship with USAC and this type of racing, ” said Rick Fedrizzi, President & COO of Richard Petty Driving Experience. “Partnering with USAC allows us to better reach race fans at the grass-roots level, showcase what RPDE has to offer and help support the next generation of drivers. ”
