Scott O’Connor got his racing wings last night.
The 26-year-old, who lives within a stone’s throw of Delaware Speedway, chose his home track to make his debut in the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprint Series.
It was one of three stops the U.S.-based group will make in Canada this year. The others are at Cayuga Speedway.
O’Connor was the last of the 11 cars that finished from the 16 that started the 30-lap feature. Dorman Snyder of Union City, Mich., won, with Mike Ling of Komoka third.
“I had some nerves, definitely, but it was nice to be at home for the first one,” said O’Connor, who has competed at Delaware in the track’s truck and modified series.
