“I have run a midget and a sprint at Concord, ” commented the young racer. “It is a great track. It is a mini-Pocono Raceway. It has three totally different corners and sort of a dogleg on the backstretch. If we can get the right setup we will really have a great night. I am looking forward to it. Hessert plans to run all of the Southern Tour events on the USAR Hooter’s ProCup Series schedule and is chasing Rookie of the Year honors.
On May 5th Hessert will pull double duty as he races in both the Sprints and the Midgets as part of the Casey’s General Stores Triple Crown event at Iowa Speedway (Newton, Iowa). The 20-year-old veteran racer will be taking part in the Lucas Oil USAC Sprint Car segment of the show that is topped by a 30-lap feature on the 7/8th-mile asphalt tri-oval and the USAC National Championship Midget segment that will also be topped by a 30-lap feature. In both events Hessert will have sponsorship from MAACO America’s Body Shop.
In the Midget events Hessert will be in a Beast chassis with Esslinger Ford power with Jeff Pogo as the crew chief. Pogo will also be the crew chief on the Sprint Car that will be a Beast chassis using a Stanton Mopar engine. The Triple Crown event will also offer a Silver Crown race and a post race concert by Blake Shelton. Hessert, with sponsorship from MAACO America’s Body Shop, has put together a busy schedule for 2007 that includes USAR Hooter’s ProCup Series races in the Southern Division, United States Auto Club National Midget races and the Lucas Oil USAC Sprint races run on pavement ovals.
