Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Paul McMahan has tasted victory in recent weeks. He’s also been close enough to touch it, just to see it fall out of reach. This week in World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Series action, he’ll be looking to not only taste it and touch it, but to enjoy the spoils of victory once again.
With a stop at the Missouri State Fair Speedway on tap for Wednesday, McMahan will be gunning to put the No. 20 TSR/Bass Pro Shops/Eagle back in victory lane. The team will head to Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas for a WoO Sprint Series doubleheader on Friday and Saturday.
As a prelude to Wednesday night’s race, McMahan will participate in the 10th Annual Michael Ross Memorial Foundation (MRMF) Golf Tournament. All proceeds from the race will benefit the MRMF, which supports the Bay Cliff Health Camp for Kids in Big Bay, Mich.
McMahan’s last appearance at the half-mile Missouri State Fair Speedway on June 21, 2006, saw him earn a 12th-place finish. Jason Sides won the A-main, which was dedicated to the late Fred Brownfield, founder of the National Sprint Tour Series.
The No. 20 TSR/Bass Pro Shops/Eagle team had two solid performances at Dodge City Raceway Park in 2006, as McMahan earned a fifth-place finish and a sixth-place finish in the National Sprint Tour Series’ A-mains on June 19 and 20. The WoO Sprint Series’ last appearance in Dodge City saw Joey Saldana take the win on July 1, 2006.
In 31 starts this season, McMahan has earned one victory, three fast time awards, seven top-five finishes and 15 top-10s in WoO Sprint Series competition. He is ranked eighth in the WoO championship standings with 4,093 points. He trails series leader Schatz by 459 points and is only 168 points out of the top-five.
