Jones finished third at Perris and retained the series point lead by 46 over Spencer, who was second Saturday night.
Saturday’s race at Hanford is the first at the 3/8-mile dirt Kings County Fairgrounds oval since 2005 when Ricci Faria Jr. emerged the race winner.
Johnson excaped a first-lap tangle which involved numerous drivers, including defending series champion Cory Kruseman and Rodney Argo, who both flipped. Johnson led all 30 laps in his Arizona Race Mart Ellis to beat Spencer, Jones, Darren Hagen and Dustin Morgan for his first series victory.
