Greg Hodnett held off Stevie Smith over the final 10 laps to win the World of Outlaws sprint car feature at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night.
It was Hodnett’s second Outlaws win of the season at the Grove as he defeated the travelers in May. His Summer Nationals preliminary victory was worth $8,000. Tonight’s finale pays $20,000 to win.
“The guys did a great job,” Hodnett said. “I had a great starting spot and took advantage of it.”
“We feel very proud, all of our guys,” Hodnett said. “It’s tough to win any race. It’s extremely tough to win an Outlaw race. The guys did a great job to put us in position.”
It was Hodnett’s ninth career victory with the World of Outlaws and 40th of his career at the Grove.
Hodnett started on the pole and shot into the lead as Brian Leppo went from fourth to second by driving by Jason Meyers and Smith. The red flag flew for a first-turn crash involving Aaron Ott, Adam Wilt and Lucas Wolfe. No drivers were injured.
