After Mother Nature postponed the Missouri High-Banked Nationals in the spring, the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is ready to tackle U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Missouri on Friday, September 12 to compete in the event for the third consecutive season.
In the first two events at the track for the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, Jac Haudenschild and Jason Meyers were victorious, each won in their debut at U.S. 36 Raceway. Haudenschild has the best average finish of the drivers that have competed with the series at the track, after charging to a third-place showing last season, after lining up on the second to last row for the 40-lap event.
The track record 9.846 second at 135.36 mph. was set by Paul McMahan during time trials in 2006, with seven drivers stopping the clock with single digit laps in the series debut at the track that same season. Last year, two-time defending series champion Donny Schatz was quickest in time trials.
Donny Schatz, the two-time defending series champion leads the current points standings, as he chases his third consecutive title. The North Dakota native finished fifth at U.S. 36 Raceway last season. He currently leads the series with 13 A-Feature wins and has racked up 48 Top-10 finishes in 50 A-Feature events.
Jason Meyers, who is second in points, led all 40 laps last season in his debut at the track, after winning the Crane Cams Dash to earn the pole position in the main event. The native of Clovis, California has won eight A-Feature events this season, along with a preliminary feature on the second night of the Gold Cup Race of Champions last weekend. He leads the series with 39 Top-Five finishes and is on top of the leader board in laps led and also leads the series in fast time honors this season as he chases his first series title.
Craig Dollansky has finished in the Top-10 in both of his career starts at U.S. 36 Raceway. He was second in his debut at the track in 2006 and was 10th last season. He has won seven A-Feature events this season, along with a preliminary feature on the opening night of the Gold Cup last week. The Minnesota native is currently third in points, on the strength of 43 Top-10 finishes. He is one of just two drivers, along with Jason Meyers who has led more than 300 laps of feature racing competition this season.
Joey Saldana finished eighth in the Missouri High-Banked Nationals last season. The second generation driver is currently fourth in points and has won four times this season, including two on 3/8-mile tracks. He has 36 Top-10 finishes, with 27 of those being Top-Five performances as he continues his third season behind the wheel of the familiar No. 9 for Kasey Kahne Racing.
Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion made his debut at U.S. 36 Raceway last season. He has won six times this season and is fifth in points on the strength of 36 Top-10 finishes. He is one of just six drivers that has led more than 100 laps of feature racing competition this season.
Jac Haudenschild won the World of Outlaws inaugural event at U.S. 36 in 2006 and was third last season after lining up 24th for the 40-lap event. The native of Wooster, Ohio has won twice this season including the $50,000 Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway last Saturday night. In his first season behind the wheel for the Carnahan Motorsports team, he has racked up 37 Top-10 finishes.
Kerry Madsen, the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, has competed the last two seasons in the Missouri High-Banked Nationals. As he closes in on his first win of the 2008 campaign, the native of St. Mary’s, NSW, Australia has 31 Top-10 finishes. He is a very solid seventh in the series championship standings.
Chad Kemenah, the 2006 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, finished fourth in his debut at U.S. 36 Raceway in 2006. He has 30 Top-10 finishes this season as he too closes in on his first win. The Ohio native is just 14 points behind Madsen in the standings as the pair battles for the seventh position.
Terry McCarl has two Top-10 finishes with the World of Outlaws at U.S. 36 Raceway. He was third in the series inaugural race at the track in 2006 and was ninth last season. He begins competition this week with 20 Top-10 finishes and is ninth in points.
Daryn Pittman has finished sixth each of the last two seasons in the Missouri High-Banked Nationals. The native of Owasso, Oklahoma has won four times this season and has 25 Top-10 finishes as he sits solidly in the 10th spot in points.
Sam Hafertepe Jr. has made two starts in his career at U.S. 36 Raceway, picking up a win in his debut at the track in the spring of 2007. The sophomore driver has 13 Top-10 finishes this season as he chases his first World of Outlaws win.
Kraig Kinser, the 2004 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, will make his debut at U.S. 36 Raceway on Friday, September 12. He won his first race of the season during the Gold Rush Tour at Grays Harbor Raceway Park in Washington on Labor Day He has 13 Top-10 finishes this season as he continues his first year behind the wheel for Tony Stewart Racing.
Jason Sides made his first start at U.S. 36 Raceway last season with the World of Outlaws. The series top rookie in 2003 also has 13 Top-10 finishes this season as he closes in on his first win.
Tony Bruce Jr. made his debut in the Missouri High-Banked Nationals last season. The sophomore driver won his first career World of Outlaws race earlier this season at 34 Raceway in Iowa.
Chad Hillier, who is also in his second full-season with the World of Outlaws, competed for the first time at U.S. 36 Raceway last season. The Washington native has five Top-10 finishes this season.
Lucas Wolfe, who is in his first full season on the road with the World of Outlaws will make his debut at U.S. 36 Raceway this week. The native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania has five Top-10 finishes this season.
Paul McMahan, finished fourth in the Missouri High-Banked Nationals in 2006, after setting a new track record at the high-banked facility and he followed that up with a fifth-place run last season. He has 13 Top-10 finishes this season as he chases his first win of the campaign.
