World of Outlaws: Canadaigua Speedway Preview

Canadaigua Speedway has long been known as the “Land of Legends” for the vast talent of drivers that have taken to the half-mile located at the Ontario County Fairgrounds in New York in a variety of different machines. Over the years many legends of sprint car racing have competed at the track and for the first time since 1999, the World of Outlaws will pay a visit to Canadaigua Speedway on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25 for a full night of racing with $10,000 awaiting the winner.

Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion, leads all drivers with four wins at Canadaigua Speedway with the series, with the first of those coming in 1983 in his first visit to the track. In 15 career starts at Canadaigua, the native of Bloomington, Indiana has 12 Top-10 finishes.

Danny Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws title winner, was victorious at the half-mile in 1998. He has finished sixth or better in three of his four career starts at the track, including a runner-up performance in his debut at Canadaigua in 1997.

Jac Haudenschild won at Canadaigua in 1992 and set a new track record in time trials at the half-mile in 1997, a mark that still stands. In the series most recent event at the half-mile in 1999, Stevie Smith was victorious to bring the number of winners in A-Feature events to nine, dating back to 1983.

The event at Canadaigua Speedway on Memorial Day will be the World of Outlaws first of three separate visits to the Empire State this season, with a date at Lebanon Valley Speedway in July and Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in October as part of Super DIRT Week.
