World of Outlaws: KC-Raceway - Preview

The busiest stretch of the season wraps up for the World of Outlaws this weekend at K-C Raceway in Ohio, on Saturday, August 1 as the series will compete for the 14th time in a 28-day period as they make their annual stop at the high-banked 3/8-mile bullring.

The World of Outlaws made their debut at K-C Raceway in 2003 and the event this weekend will mark the seventh consecutive season that the series has competed at the track. Donny Schatz, the three-time and defending series champion, was victorious at the track last season and leads the series with three wins at K-C Raceway, with the others coming in 2005 and 2006.

Jason Meyers won at K-C Raceway in 2004 and in the six pervious events at the track for the World of Outlaws, four drivers have picked up wins. Daryn Pittman was the winner in the series inaugural race at the track in 2003, while Terry McCarl won there in 2007.

The race this weekend will mark the World of Outlaws lone visit to K-C Raceway and will be the sixth of seven races in the state of Ohio this season for the series.

Heading into the race on Saturday, August 1, Donny Schatz holds a 46-point lead over Jason Meyers in the series championship standings as he chases his fourth consecutive title. Joey Saldana is third in points, with 20-time series champion Steve Kinser fourth and Jason Sides who recently won his first race of the season in fifth.
