World of Outlaws: KC-Raceway - Preview

Plenty of starts: Joey Saldana has turned the most laps of any driver competing full-time with the World of Outlaws at K-C Raceway as he has over 30 starts at the track in his career dating back to 1989. He won for the first time at the track in 1995 with the All Star Circuit of Champions. He has finished in the Top-10 in the last four World of Outlaws races at the track and was fifth there last season. The native of Brownsburg, Indiana leads the series with 12 A-Feature wins this season and is currently third in points.

A good track record: Jason Meyers has five Top-10 finishes in six career starts at K-C Raceway with one of those being a win with the World of Outlaws in 2004. He finished third at the track last season. He won for the fifth time in 2009 on Tuesday night at Ohsweken Speedway in Canada and leads the series with 36 Top-10 finishes. He is currently second in points, just 46 markers behind Donny Schatz as he chases his first series title.

Back in the winner’s circle: Jason Sides was victorious in the World of Outlaws most recent race at Ohsweken Speedway in Canada on Wednesday night. The 2003 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year moved up a spot in points as well after the win and now is fifth. He has three career Top-10 finishes at K-C Raceway and was fourth in his debut at the track in 2001. He has 31 Top-10 finishes this season with 14 of those being Top-Five performances.

Return visit: Danny Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws champion, will make his first start at K-C Raceway in two years this weekend. He was victorious in his debut at the track in 1993 with the All Star Circuit of Champions and has three career Top-10 runs at the high-banked bullring. The native of Dover, Missouri was won five times this season and is currently sixth in points, just five markers behind Jason Sides.

Plenty of momentum: Craig Dollansky heads to K-C Raceway with three consecutive podium finishes this week, including his first win of the season on Sunday at Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York. It was his first win as part of Kasey Kahne Racing. He has four career Top-10 finishes at K-C Raceway. He is currently seventh in points on the strength of 30 Top-10 finishes with 14 of those being Top-Fives.

Some good runs: Kraig Kinser has three career Top-10 finishes including a couple of runner-up performances at K-C Raceway in a limited number of starts in his career at the track. The third generation driver finished ninth at Ohsweken Speedway on Wednesday night to earn his 20th Top-10 finish of the season. He is solidly in the Top-10 in points as he continues his second full season driving for Tony Stewart Racing as a teammate to Donny Schatz.

It’s been a while: Lucas Wolfe competed at K-C Raceway with the World of Outlaws in 2005 and will return to the track for the first time since that race this weekend. The reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year missed last year’s race as he was recovering from a back injury. He finished sixth in the most recent World of Outlaws event at Ohsweken Speedway to earn his 10th Top-10 finish of the season. He is currently 10th in the series championship standings.

A track he knows: Brian Ellenberger, who is a contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award this season, has competed seven times in his career at K-C Raceway. He will make his first start at the high-banked bullring since 2007 this weekend. He finished a career-best fourth at the track in 2001.
