After a thrilling debut at the state-of-the-art Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri in 2005, the World of Outlaws will return to the semi-banked 1/3-mile on Saturday, May 12 after a one year hiatus. The event will wrap up a doubleheader weekend in the state of Missouri for the series, as they also take to the high banks of U. S. 36 Raceway in Osborn on Friday, May 11.
In the series inaugural visit Lake Ozark Speedway, Tim Shaffer picked up a convincing win, with Steve Kinser finishing second after an epic battle with Paul McMahan who wound up third. Shaffer shot around Daryn Pittman in traffic on the seventh lap and led the rest of the way in the 40-lap event. Shaffer enters this year’s event with eight Top-10 finishes on the year, with six of those being in the Top-Five, including a fifth-place effort last weekend.
Kinser heads to Lake Ozark Speedway for his second start on the 1/3-mile, a very solid seventh in the World of Outlaws championship standings. The 20-time series champion has won twice this season, and has 10 Top-10 finishes. The native of Bloomington, Indiana is coming off a very solid third-place finish last weekend. McMahan will make his first start at the track behind the wheel of the No. 20 for twotime NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart’s team. The native of Nashville is just outside the Top-10 in points, with six Top-10 finishes on the year, including a season-best finish of fourth last weekend.
