The World of Outlaws Sprint Cars will wrap up their march through the South on Saturday night, March 31, with a visit to Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia, for the “Hardee’s Southbound Showdown. ” This will mark the first time the series has visited the racy 3/8-mile facility since 1999.
“What a way to kick off the Spring Special Event Season here at Dixie! The World of Outlaws are the best in SPrint Car Racing and everyone is excited about coming out to welcome them. This is truly the “must see” event of 2007, ” said Dixie Speedway V. P. Mike Swims.
Leading the way will be Donny Schatz and Joey Saldana, who are separated by only seven points in the season championship standings. The pair has accounted for six wins in the first 10 races of 2007.
Schatz currently has three victories to his credit, and has finished in the Top-Five in nine of the first ten races of the season. The native of Fargo, North Dakota, is the reigning World of Outlaws Champion and also won the Knoxville Nationals last season for the first time in his career. He finished sixth at the track in 1999, when the series made their inaugural visit to Dixie.
