Kentucky 150: Brian Scott Takes Pole Award

SPARTA, Ky. – NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular Brian Scott took the pole award for ARCA RE/MAX Series “Kentucky 150” with a 176.211-mph (30.645 seconds) lap in his this afternoon at Kentucky Speedway.

Scott, who was fourth quickest in practice with a 173.633-mph (31.100 seconds), will start his third ARCA RE/MAX Series race of the season and first at Kentucky Speedway. The 20-year-old from Boise, Idaho earned his season-best fifth-place finish at Michigan International Speedway and will be joined on the front row by today’s practice leader Michael Phelps, who turned his best of two qualifying efforts at 175.194 mph (30.823 seconds).

Robb Brent qualified third in his No. 00 Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Chevrolet with a 174.550-mph (30.919 seconds) lap and Matt Hawkins rounded out the second row after turning a 174.430-mph (30.958 seconds) lap in his No. 30 Jani-King/Racing Radios Dodge.

Roush Fenway Racing driver and May 10 series Kentucky winner Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., qualified fifth in his No. 99 Save-a-lot Food Stores Ford with a top 174.210-mph (30.997 seconds) lap. Nine-time and defending series champion Frank Kimmel will make his bid to become the second five-time event winner in track history from the seventh position on the grid. He turned his best qualifying lap at 173.762 mph (31.077 seconds).

Scott’s top qualifying run did not threaten the 178.731-mph (30.213 seconds) series track qualifying record set by Erin Crocker.
