Lucas Ransone Racing

Lucas Ransone, driver of the #00 KRG Ford, had a host of trials and tribulations during the Heritage Truck Centers 250 at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, VA on Saturday night. The young rookie was able to stay focused and keep the car on the track to finish the race 8th.

Ransone qualified 12th overall for the seventh race in the USARacing season. It did not take long for Ransone to start encountering problems. When the cars started to move forward after driver introductions Ransone’s car would not crank. After a push he was able to get moving and ready for the race to get underway.

Ransone had worked his way up to 4th and was running well until a car in front of him started having rear end problems. The car was shooting oil all over Ransone’s windshield. He had to rely solely on his spotter for direction on the track as he could no longer see anything in front of him.

On lap 159 Ransone was cutting low to make a pass when the car in front of him stopped suddenly. Unfortunately the car behind him did not stop quickly enough and hit him. Ransone went up the track hitting the wall with the back of his car.

“Lucas did a great job saving the car,” said team owner Larry Ransone. “If he had not reacted like he did we might have not made it back out on the track.”

Ransone pulled into the pits where the crew worked quickly to get the car fixed to be able to finish the race. Unfortunately the accident was not the last of his troubles. With 80 laps left the clutch went out.

“It seemed like everything that could go wrong went wrong,” said Ransone. “But if this is the worst of our bad luck we will take it. An 8th place finish isn’t too bad.”

By not giving up and staying in the race Ransone’s finish was good enough to move him into 2nd place in the overall points standings. His next race will be the Hickory 250 at Hickory Motor Speedway.
