And the picture is looking better and better. Busch is only 13 points out of the coveted No. 12 cutoff spot now held by the pole-sitter Earnhardt.
In fact, Busch has climbed three spots and made up 223 points since Pat Tryson took over as crew chief of the Miller Lite Dodge Team five races ago. Kurt Busch has been embroiled in controversies this season with Tony Stewart and his own brother, Kyle, among others, but let’s just come right out and say it—the man can flat out drive. For some of you that might be giving the devil his due, but a month ago Busch sat in 16th place, more than 170 points behind Junior. Since then Busch has bedeviled the rest of the bubble boys flying right up on the rear bumper of the 8 team—a measly 23 points back. Beau Estes, NASCAR.COM

For Kurt Busch, 2007 must seem like a typical season.
Turmoil on the racetrack, instability on his team and quarrels with other drivers. None of that is new to Busch in the world of Nextel Cup Series racing, but he wasn’t always a source of negative attention.
