Dave Blaney on Texas Motor Speedway
Weve been having some fun with our Caterpillar Cars of Tomorrow here the last couple of races, and were kind of sorry to be leaving them behind this week. But were bringing our Fontana car to Texas, and we know its a good one. Obviously, we didnt make any headway last weekend trying to close the gap to the top 35, but with a couple of good finishes, well be right there. That doesnt help us much come qualifying on Friday, but well just do the best we can and hope its enough. Its a stressful situation. I dont think we realized how stressful it was in Martinsville until we were safely in the show. Then, it felt like the weight of the world had been lifted off our shoulders. Well go through it again this week and maybe well get things going on raceday and in the next week or two, we wont have to worry about it. Weve got everything we need to get the job done, so hopefully well be fine.

Weve got some momentum going, and thats never a bad thing. The race at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend will be a little different animal because weve had the most success this year, obviously, on the shorter tracks with the Car of Tomorrow. Going back to the bigger tracks is a little nerve wracking, since thats where weve struggled. That said, this is a stronger team than it was just a couple of weeks ago. We know were capable of getting it done, and I think theres no question well be better prepared this weekend than we were for those races we missed, if not just from a mental standpoint. I almost wish we hadnt had that weekend off in between Martinsville and Texas, because like I said, momentum is finally on our side. The good news is everybodys fingernails have had a chance to grow back, because qualifying day will be another nail biter.
