Hendrick Motorsports will announce Earnhardt’s primary sponsor and number for next season Wednesday.
“I’ve done about as good as I can do about narrowing it down and what not,” Earnhardt said. “It’s going to be a lot fun to really see the reaction of the fans. I hope they really enjoy what we’re going to do.” Shawn Courchesne, Courant.com
It’s been a long time coming, and Budweiser people probably won’t be thrilled, because they’re expecting to lose Earnhardt after spending millions promoting him in the red No. 8. But car owner Rick Hendrick last night said he would be revealing Earnhardt’s new sponsor and car number for 2008 in a news conference in Dallas next Wednesday.

Hendrick Motorsports has scheduled a news conference for Wednesday afternoon in Dallas to announce Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s new number and sponsor for next season. It’s been reported for a few weeks that Earnhardt’s sponsor would be one or more PepsiCo products, with Mountain Dew as the likely primary brand. The National Guard could also be a sponsor, according to reports.
