Cambridge native Matt Kenseth won Sunday’s NASCAR Nextel Cup season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida.
Kenseth won what was the final race with his longtime crew chief, Robbie Reiser, who will assume the position of general manager of Roush Fenway Racing in 2008. Gazettextra
Matt Kenseth won the Ford 400 at Homestead in a rather dominating fashion, only a few times were other cars able to challenge him and then start to fade away, while Kenseth just kept on going. Not bad considering they were having battery problems and there was also a mention of brakes too. ThatsRacin
While Johnson won the title with a seventh-place finish, Kenseth dominated his last race with crew chief Robbie Reiser for his second win of the season. It was Kenseth’s first win since the second race of the season, a span of 34 races.
“When you go a long time without a win, you wonder if you are ever going to win again, ” Kenseth said. “It’s a great feeling. I feel like I let the guys down and lost a lot of close races this year. This is an awesome feeling. It was pretty dominant today. ” JEFF OWENS, SCENEDAILY
