NASCAR will take over the State Capitol in Sacramento on Saturday, June 9, and race fans are invited to join the celebration.
The 2nd annual NASCAR Day will be highlighted by a parade of NASCAR show cars through the streets surrounding the State Capitol. The parade will be led by the 2007 Toyota Tundra Pace Truck, which will set the pace for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway, June 22-24. The parade will take place at 1:15 p. m. (Pacific).
The event will span from 10 a. m.-2 p. m. and will be highlighted by a visit from three NASCAR Grand National Division West Series drivers, Brian Ickler, Justin Lofton and Kenny Shepherd, who will compete in the Blue Lizard Suncream 200 on Saturday of the Toyota/Save Mart 350 event weekend. The drivers will be on hand to compete with fans in racing simulators and take part in a Q&A session.
In addition, race fans can expect:
· NEXTEL Racing Experience with real racing simulators
· AAA Racing Experience with real racing simulators, show car and Kid’s Safety Course
· NASCAR NEXTEL Cup championship trophy and Toyota/Save Mart 350 trophy for photo opportunities
· NASCAR show cars on display, including the Burger King Toyota driven by David Reutimann.
· Jackson Rancheria Casino & Hotel has created its own NASCAR show car, which will also be on display
· Infineon Raceway Toyota FJ Cruiser complete with Playstation 3, 26” LCD Monitor and 800 watts of Zapco amplifiers
· Appearance by popular radio show hosts Armstrong & Getty
· An old-fashioned grape stomp
· Music, games, face painting, and much more.
The event serves as a kick-off for the Toyota/Save Mart 350, which will mark NASCAR’s 19th consecutive visit to the Sonoma Valley, and the series’ only stop in Northern California.
