Speculation on a new home for Yeley seems to have fallen to two teams; Bill Davis Racing who removed driver Jeremy Mayfield from one of their Toyota’s just this past week or the new team of Robert Yates Newman Haas Racing.
Yates could be preparing to add a third Ford to their stable or looking for a replacement for driver Ricky Rudd who reportedly would like to return to the sidelines after a less than stellar season to date. Greg Engle, Cup Scene Daily

“Right now, I’m leaving Joe Gibbs Racing,” Yeley announced in front of his Interstate Batteries Chevrolet hauler. “I have a lot of good opportunities in store for me. I don’t have a date set for when I’m going to announce what I’m doing, but I have talked with several different teams.” SHAWN VARGO, The-Leader.com
The move sounds simple – Busch’s replacement is already set at Hendrick Motorsports (HMS), Dale Earnhardt Jr., while J.J. Yeley has been rumored to be a candidate for the No. 21 Wood Brothers ride. But this much anticipated move will have big ramifications in what’s known as “silly season”. Auto Racing Daily
Yeley said the Wood Brothers and Dale Earnhardt Inc. were among the teams he had talked to in recent weeks. He would not confirm it was Busch who was replacing him at JGR.
Asked why the situation with JGR didn’t work out, Yeley replied, “If I knew that, I could buy a lottery ticket and be a rich man. It’s difficult to say. Obviously, there is excellent equipment here. Our teammates do good. Our problem was we were too inconsistent.” Jim Utter, McClatchy Newspapers
