McMurray on racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway:
“After the last race in Chicago, I’m really looking forward to Indy this weekend. Indy is a place that I’ve always run really well at in the past and even had a shot at winning a few years ago. It’s a place that every driver wants to win at and a place that has so much history behind it. We didn’t run very well at the last flat track we visited (Pocono), but I feel we have a pretty good car for Indy this weekend. We went back to the shop and looked at what worked and what didn’t at Pocono, so I think that should help us in Indy.
“There is a good stretch of tracks coming up that I feel we are going to run really well at. We have Indy this weekend, then Watkins Glen, Michigan, Bristol and Fontana. A lot of those are some of my favorite places to race and places we ran well at the first time we visited them earlier this season. I’ve said before, it’s not about having good luck it’s about avoiding the bad luck. Hopefully, last weekend at Chicago, we got all the bad luck out of us.
“Also, this weekend in Indy, I will be a part of Crown Royal’s ‘Safe Rides Home’ program. I believe it’s the third year they have hosted the program in downtown Indy and the second year where I will be driving people home. It’s a really cool campaign that I’m proud to be a part of. “
Crew Chief Larry Carter on racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway:
“After Pocono we took all the information from all five Roush teams back to the shop to see how we could better our flat track program. After looking at everything and coming up with some new setups, I think we have a pretty good shot at running well this weekend in Indy. Last week we were deciding between two different cars, but we ran them both in the wind tunnel and feel like we have a pretty good car for this weekend’s race. I know the guys are disappointed in last week’s run, but we have to put that behind us and look forward to the upcoming races we have on our plate. We all know that Jamie runs really well at the upcoming tracks, so we are looking forward to putting on a good run. “
