Joe Nemechek posted a 25th place result Monday at Dover International Speedway.
The Ginn Racing Driver was not able to get the maximum traction out of his No. 14 Haier Chevrolet in the rain-delayed Nextel Cup race.
“We needed to have the car stuck to the bottom so we could run at full throttle, ” explained Nemechek, who started 35th. “We were close. It seemed like we were on the edge of being too loose or too tight. There’s no question our COTs are driving better, but we still have some homework to do. “
Despite problems in Saturday’s final practice sessions, Nemechek was much better in the 400-mile race. But with few cautions, coupled with some handling issues, he fell two laps down.
“One lap down you can make up some ground with the lucky dog free pass, ” said crew chief Peter Sospenzo. “But when you’re two laps behind, you dug a deep hole and it’s hard to get out. “
The next event for Nemechek’s Ginn Racing team will be Sunday at Pocono Racecway in Long Pond, Pa.
