Juan Pablo Montoya To Make First Atlanta Start In Nicorette 300

With his first NASCAR Busch Series win in his rear view mirror, NASCAR rookie and former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya will make his first competition laps ever at AMS in the upcoming Nicorette 300 NASCAR Busch Series race.

Prior to his win in last Sunday’s Mexico road course race, Montoya had not notched a top-10 in a NASCAR sanctioned event. In addition to the Nicorette 300, Montoya will also run the Kobalt Tools 500 NEXTEL Cup event on Sunday, March 18.

Montoya is still adjusting to the different handling characteristics of stock cars, but it is evident from his Busch Series win, he is a quick study.

“The difference in open wheel and stock car racing is the weight of the car, ” Montoya said. “The weight of the car is what makes the racing so exciting. With the small cars they’re going to slide a little more, and they’re going to be less forgiving. It allows much better racing. When you drive in open wheel, the car is pretty much on rails. ”
