Kyle Busch, Driver Of The No. 5 Kellogg’s/carquest Monte Carlo SS: (on Racing At Michigan. ) “When the cars spread out and you are three- or four-wide, the place can be pretty deceiving. It’s a really wide track and you can use so many grooves, so it’s good to have a good spotter who can tell you which guys are running which grooves and what is working better for everyone. It also helps to have a smart spotter so we don’t run into someone coming off the corners using different grooves. “
Busch: (On Success At Michigan. ) “Alan (Gustafson) and I have generally been pretty fast at Michigan. We’ve qualified and run well, but we haven’t had the finishes. Something has happened to us almost every time we’ve run there. “
Busch: (ON Why Michigan Is So Hard On Motors. ) “It’s because of sustained rpm. We’re at full steam the entire race. The valves, valve springs and the overall motor takes a beating so reliability is a big factor. Hendrick Motorsports’ engine department works hard in preparation for Michigan. “
