Marlin Snaps Jinx In Atlanta



A 24th-place finish in Sunday’s Nextel Cup event at Atlanta Motor Speedway snapped the jinx that has haunted Sterling Marlin and the No. 14 team since last season.

The veteran driver has suffered from bad fortune in the last eight events, dating back to Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Oct. 15, 2006.

“We’ve struggled for a long time, ” said Marlin. “Whether it be a mechanical failure or getting caught up in an accident, trouble has found us. It’s not a great finish, but it’s a step in the right direction. “
