Sterling Marlin survived a wild Nextel Cup event at Talladega Superspeedway and crossed the finish line in 16th place.
After posting a strong lap during Saturday’s qualifying session, Marlin started the 192-lap overtime race from the fourth spot and ran in the top 10 for the majority of the event.
“We had an awesome car today, ” said Marlin, who led 16 laps during the Aaron’s 499. “We would fall back a little bit—typical of superspeedway racing—and be able to drive right back to the front. I was having a great time out there and really think we had a chance to contend for the win. “
