The 3M Performance 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway has been postponed until noon Monday. The race will be broadcast live ESPN2.
All parking lots will open at 6 a. m. and grandstand gates will open at 8 a. m.
All tickets for Sunday’s event will be honored on Monday. Race fans that attended Sunday activities should bring back their tickets for re-entry Monday.
A modified traffic plan will be in place for Monday’s event. The track asks all local citizens that use U. S. Hwy 12, M-50 or Vicary Road for their morning commute to prepare for an increased amount of traffic, and find alternate routes if possible.
Campers will be allowed to stay in all MIS-owned and operated campgrounds until noon Tuesday. Those campers who wish to leave may do so in accordance with the grounds’ normal exiting pattern. Infield campers will be allowed to exit their spots beginning approximately 5 p. m.
Fans that are not camping, but wish to stay in the area for the night are welcomed to stay in their parked cars.
NASCAR and MIS officials announced the postponement at 3 p. m. Sunday. Track and NASCAR officials were optimistic to get the 3M Performance 400 under way, however the constant rain prevented the eight track jet dryers to initiate the drying process
