Battery charges have been filed against a man arrested for allegedly assaulting NASCAR Busch Series driver Steve Wallace in Broad Ripple on Sunday night after the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.
Mark D. Tharpe, 25, was freed on $15,000 bond after his arrest and booking and is scheduled to appear for a court hearing Aug. 7.
Wallace, 19, finished 17th in the Kroger 200 on Saturday night at O’Reilly Raceway Park and is 16th in Busch Series points. Kevin O’Neal, IndyStar.com
Steven went into a convenience store in the Broad Ripple area of Indianapolis, nothing any ordinary 19 year old wouldn’t do right? While he was in there, or around there, a possible small herd of weirdoes decided they wanted his watch. Broad Ripple is described by tourist websites as having a diverse street life, quaint boutiques and hot nightlife. Sounds like a cool place to be, and I’m guessing that was what Steven was thinking…at least until he had three guys try to relieve him of his cool watch he was wearing. Amy Hair, Cup Scene Daily
