Scott Riggs will round out the list of current drivers and NASCAR legends scheduled to make appearances in the sold-out Darlington Stripe Zone on May 12. Riggs will join Jeff Burton, Everett “Cotton” Owens and Bud Moore in the popular fan hospitality area.
Riggs first raced at Darlington in 2001, while competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. His best finish so far at the track “Too Tough To Tame, ” which he lists as one of his favorite stops on the NEXTEL Cup Series circuit, was 25th, in the final running of the Southern 500 in November 2004. He finished 31st in the 2006 Dodge Charger 500.
Burton, who finished seventh in the 2006 NEXTEL Cup Series point standings, has posted 13 top 10 and eight top five finishes in 24 starts at the track “Too Tough To Tame. ” He was a winner in the 1999 spring event, then returned for the “sweep” in September of that year, winning the prestigious 50th running of the Mountain Dew Southern 500.
