Since the NEXTEL Cup Series is going completely to the car of tomorrow for all 2008 races, did you hesitate to build a new chassis using the present rules?
“No, we didn’t hesitate to build a new ‘car of today, ’ because there are a lot of races still on the schedule that use that car.
“We haven’t been that good with the old chassis, and we feel like we learned some things earlier this year that we wanted to incorporate, so we sucked it up and built a new car. Would I rather have focused on what’s coming up for 2008? Sure, but we need to get better on the 1.5-mile tracks right now, so you do what you have to do.
“The wind tunnel numbers on this chassis really looked good, so I think this chassis will be the start of our turnaround on the 1.5-mile tracks. ”
