It s that Holy Grail of sports that can rarely be achieved.

Texas Motor Speedway has achieved it.

TMS has held 12 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races since its inaugural race in 1997 and has had 12 different drivers visit Victory Lane.

In a world where anyone with even a passing knowledge of sports makes a prediction, NASCAR NEXTEL Cup races at Texas have become unpredictable.

And it s not as if those who have won this race have been big surprises. A total of 205 races have been won by the 12 Texas champions. And a total of six NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Championships have been won by that group.

Of the 12 drivers who have won here, 10 have participated in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup. Here s the exclusive list: Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Elliott Sadler, Ryan Newman, Matt Kenseth, Dale Jarrett, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Terry Labonte, Mark Martin and Jeff Burton.

Arguably even more impressive is the list of drivers who haven t won at Texas.

Jimmie Johnson, winner of three races already this season, has the best average finish at Texas (6.3), but has never won a race there.

Texas is one of three NASCAR NEXTEL Cup tracks Jeff Gordon has not one at.
