Greg Biffle, Regan Smith, J.J. Yeley and David Reutimann are among the drivers being considered for the No. 8 car at Dale Earnhardt Inc., a source close to the situation told ESPN.com.
Don’t count Mark Martin out, either.
Biffle is under contract through 2008 at Roush Fenway Racing, so he’s a long-shot for next season. David Newton, ESPN.com

What a “silly” season it has been. Traditionally reserved for the “off” season, silly season has begun earlier and earlier until 2006, when it seemingly simply segued into 2007.
In the latest of bizarre events, Dale Earnhardt Inc. (DEI) “merges” with Ginn Racing.
For those of you lucky enough to have escaped the white collar world of publicly owned companies, let me share a story about a former employer, Maynard Electronics.

It’s kind of funny that both Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and his teammate Martin Truex, Jr. are hanging out in the top dozen in points. Granted, they are in the last two spots right now, Truex, Jr. in 11th and Earnhardt, Jr. in 12th. But they’re there, hanging on by a few points.
We’ve all watched with curiosity as Dale Earnhardt, Inc. has transformed over the past few months. It seems to have gone from a run of the mill company to one that is determined to have everyone stand up and take notice.

No doubt, this commentary will receive equal condemnation from those that truly want to portray Teresa Earnhardt as a kind of “wicked stepmother” character that has, through her penny-pinching and inept business practices, prevented her stepson from attaining what some believe is his preordained destiny…NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Champion. However, as the past weeks and months have unfolded, the truth continues to shine through above the chatter. The facts speak for themselves; no matter what you think of her business practices, Teresa Earnhardt is one smart cookie! Tommy Thompson, FrontStretch.com

A year and a half in the making, Earnhardt expects the partnership to serve as a model of how a research and racing organization can collaborate for accelerated results.
She looked to the sky, as if talking to senior himself during the announcement. “The partnership all provides a great match for the mission of Dale Earnhardt Incorporated Foundation. The Dale Earnhardt Motorsports scholarship will support the education of deserving students,” said Earnhardt. Connie LeGrand, WSPA.com

Teresa Earnhardt, the late Dale Earnhardt’s widow, has always been aggressive.
She was responsible for marketing her late husband’s name and likeness and, in part, made it possible for DEI to become a reality.
Dale Earnhardt was making more than $30 million a year in the mid 1990’s and that was about $29 million more than anyone else. That credit goes to Teresa — she made it happen.
When Teresa hired Max Siegel, a highly sought-after entertainment executive, the NASCAR world was saying what does he know about racing? They were probably right by asking the question but one thing Max does know is marketing and in this new world of NASCAR marketing is almost everything. Mike McCourt, GaylordHeraldTimes
