Ed Hinton, Chicago Tribune: Stewart hasn’t won at Chicagoland Speedway since 2004, but here’s one indication of how he might run in Sunday’s USG Sheetrock 400—and how much fun he’s having, with how much confidence.
The 1.5-mile Joliet tri-oval is considered an intermediate track, where Stewart will drive a traditional Monte Carlo on Sunday. The last similar track, with the same type car, was the two-mile Michigan Speedway on June 17.
Auto Racing Daily: “My Home Depot Chevrolet feels pretty good, ” said Stewart, who won at Chicagoland in 2004. “It has real good stability right now, and that’s the biggest thing here. Even when we were behind cars today it seemed like it drove well, and this is a place where the aero push can be really bad, so track position is always important. It’s just a matter of trying to keep our balance good all day long. ”
