Despite not being able to complete any winter tests with its new Yamaha R1s, GSE team manager Colin Wright wants both Leon Camier and James Ellison to be pushing for double podium finishes in Monday’s Brands Hatch BSB season-opener.
“Expectations are high for this weekend and as always we will be pushing for two podium finishes for both riders,” Wright insisted. “Having competed in Superbike racing for over ten years, we know that a championship can’t be won at the first round alone, so we will be looking for some solid results to kick-off our campaign for a fifth series title.”
GSE has switched from Ducati to Yamaha machinery over the winter, but the ‘very late arrival’ of factory parts ruled out vital winter tests. Yamaha has taken full responsibility for the delay, and praised GSE for its ‘patience and understanding’.
