Reilly will partner rider Paul Veazey on the distinctive blue and yellow bike in the weekend’s two (MRNSC) Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship races.

Jackson was ruled unfit to race following a massive crash during last week’s Bol d’Or race in France where he was lucky to walk away with just a chipped ankle bone. Currently lying fifth in the championship, he admits he is devastated not to be able to ride in this weekend’s double-header at the famous circuit.

“I’m gutted, with two races this weekend we could’ve had a really good fight but it’s all over now, ” he said. “My ankle is causing me a lot of pain and it’s tough being here and not being able to race. But I’ll be here to help the team as usual and support both Kelvin and Paul as well as my brother Gary in the Cup event.”

Reilly agreed to step in at the last minute after being approached by Team Manager Tony Astle, and having had just this morning’s free practice session to get a feel for the bike, he is upbeat about what the weekend may bring. “I’ve had less than half an hour on the Yamaha but from first impressions, it’s mega, ” he said. “I’ve still got to get used to it, but it’s going to be a busy weekend with two races, so I’m relishing the challenge. “

Paul Veazey will be back as usual on his 33 machine, and is looking for a good weekend. “It’s been a tough year but I’m determined to get two decent results in the bag here, ” he said. “We have no idea what the weather will do, but we’re used to running in the wet now this season so if it does rain, it won’t be the end of the world for me. “

Another rider with two races this weekend is Gary Jackson on his Newell Plumbing/Krystal Racing Yamaha R1. Like the main championship, the Superstock Cup is also running a double-header at Donington Park. Flying the flag for the Jackson family, the 36-year-old from Lincolnshire is hoping to improve from seventh in the title chase. “I’m looking forward to the races, but it’s a strange weekend not having Lee running as well. I guess after years of watching him race, its his turn to cheer me on, so I’ll be going out to try and keep the Jackson name on everyone’s lips in his absence.

Team Manager Tony Astle commented: “It’s a big shame that Lee isn’t able to ride but I think we’re all just pleased he wasn’t more seriously injured last week. We’ve decided to give Kelvin a chance as a one-off and he seems happy. He loves the bike and he’s got Lee working with him as much as he can, and he’ll be doing his best. Paul is fired up for a good one too, as is Gary, so fingers crossed we can have four safe races this weekend. ”
