Team Yamaha contacted and asked the number 99 rider if he was interested in riding the 600 at the up and coming Assen event. Having just received confirmation from his usual DFX team that they would not be fielding him a bike for the Assen round, as previously agreed, it left Martin with an easy decision to make.

Steve said “I can’t believe the way this all came about, but when Kev asked me personally to fill in for him I was in shock as it was the last phone call I was expecting. No one likes to fill in under these circumstances especially when its one of your mates but I will do the best job possible to help Kev Brock and Yamaha.
