41st Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix
McGuinness Sets New Isle of Man TT Lap Record Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix star John McGuinness clinched his 13th TT victory recently when he took victory in the Senior TT ahead of another Macau regular, Guy Martin. McGuinness set a new 130mph outright lap record in the process at the Centenary running of the event, having watched as a spectator when twotime Macau winner, the late Steve Hislop, set the 120mph lap record.
McGuinness also won the Superbike TT race at the event, ahead of Guy Martin and Ian Hutchinson.
Macau Win Gives Plater Jackpot
Steve Plater’s nail-biting victory in the 40th Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix has paid rich dividends, landing him a full time ride with the AIM Yamaha team for 2007 for the British Superbike championship, the North West 200, the Isle of Man TT, as well a title-defence bid in Macau this November. He is also competing in the World Endurance championship with Kawasaki, and his Paris-based team claimed a thrilling victory in the second round putting them just one point behind the series leaders. Plater’s success illustrates the pivotal role the Macau Grand Prix can play in the careers of riders as well as drivers.
