Italy’s Michel Fabrizio thrilled the home fans by topping the timesheets ahead of the weekend’s round of the FIM Superbike World Championship at Monza.
Fabrizio clocked one minute 45.447 seconds to beat Sykes by more than three tenths on the eve of Saturday’s Superpole.

The pair, who showed well during free practice, came away from the hour-long session ahead of Noriyuki Haga and Ben Spies after impressive efforts around the high-speed Italian circuit.
Mirroring the three tenth advantage he enjoyed in free practice, Fabrizio looked set to be joined at the front by team-mate Haga, only for Sykes to sneak ahead with his final lap of the session.
Haga maintained third to put a comfortable buffer between himself and Spies, who could only manage a small improvement in his lap time back in seventh position. Yahoo! Eurosports
Britain’s Tom Sykes had a quick lap on his Yamaha at the end of the session to sit in second with 1 minute 45.758 seconds.
Current World Superbike Championship leader, Noriyuki Haga rounded out the top three, with another British rider, Jonathan Rea, rounding out the front of the provisional grid. Fox Sports
