The heavy rains that have plagued motorcycle test sessions since 2001 were replaced by blue skies and 70-degree temperatures on Thursday as top AMA riders tested the twists and turns of Infineon Raceway.

The teams were testing in advance of the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown, presented by Supercuts, May 18-20, in the Sonoma Valley.

The test featured 10 riders from Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha and Corona Honda. All teams will return for a second day of testing on Friday, and they will be joined by Suzuki, featuring defending AMA Superbike champion Ben Spies and six-time Superbike champion Mat Mladin.
