I struggled on during practice and in qualifying with a few dramas in the #12 Team BOC Falcon, but we were able to make up quite a few positions early in the first race on Saturday.
All that came undone for me on lap 25, when I went to pass Jason Bargwanna for 20th position. I was committed to go down the inside of him into the hairpin and Jason just moved over on me enough for us to make contact; my left front wheel coming in contact with his right rear. The impact was enough for my car to jump into the air, and while there were no visible signs of damage on my car, it had damaged my steering. I was able to continue, however post race we found quite a bit of damage. On Saturday night, the Team BOC crew replaced all of the front suspension and as a precaution, replaced the steering rack.
On Sunday I hoped to again carve my way though the field with a car that was showing some reasonable car speed before my accident. However I wasn’t able to take to the grid after the new steering rack failed on the out lap prior to the start of race two. It was bitterly disappointing for me and very frustrating to sit there are the crew again changed the rack.
