A red letter day for Holden Racing Team with its first 1-2 victory result for some years, while Mark Skaife surpassed Peter Brock as the greatest winning touring car/V8 Supercar Championship driver ever with 38 wins.
Skaife dominated races one and two and finished a controlled third in race three behind team mate Todd Kelly and Ford’s Craig Lowndes. This gave Skaife 65 points for the round clear of the Kelly brothers equal on 52 points.

“It’s been a humbling experience to pass Peter Brock, particularly while in our new car designated ‘VE 05’ – very spooky stuff!
“Today was fantastic and it was great to do a solid job, after the disappointment of Winton. But I guess you are only as good as your last race. Late in the day I was happy to run third behind Todd and Craig – it was a safe option and I guess I had the best view in the house. ”
Todd Kelly (equal 2nd)
I was surprised at the end result for us as I did not think a 1-2 result was on the cards after fourth and fifth placings in earlier races. Winning race three was all about getting a strong out lap together.
“After the pit-stop I positioned myself in front of the others, I worked the tyres hard and the result came. From now on we keep chipping away at Championship points at tracks we traditionally perform well at. Our second half of the year will need to be good. ”
