Fujitsu Racing’s Jason Bright and Adam Macrow have completed a successful final pre-Bathurst test in their Ford Falcon V8 Supercar at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria.
With the Supercheap Auto 1000 at Bathurst just over a week away, the Fujitsu Racing team completed a detailed session that included evaluation of Bathurst specification components and running-in of parts for the 161-lap classic.
“Our best test of the year and coming a week ahead of Bathurst has us all very enthused, ” said Jason Bright.
“We had some ideas we wanted to try and we will now apply that to the Fujitsu Racing Ford as well as IRWIN Racing Falcon ahead of Bathurst.
“Essentially the changes are aimed at making the car more consistent to drive which will hopefully give us gains in outright speed.
“It was a good opportunity to be in full endurance mode with all the parts on the car. We will have pretty much a fresh set of components on the cars. It was important to make sure everything was in top shape heading to Mount Panorama.
“It means that we can hit the track running next Thursday and not have to worry about making too many changes.
Bright completed 45-laps of the Winton track, while teammate Adam Macrow got behind the wheel for 20 circuits.
“I concentrated on getting comfortable with the car, ” said Macrow.
“The car is set-up for Jason’s liking and I have had to adapt to that. With the laps I got this week, plus the Sandown race experience, I feel very confident heading to Bathurst.
“I will get as many laps as possible before the race. However, with Jason qualifying the Falcon I can concentrate on race pace and doing my job on Sunday. “
Fujitsu Racing Chief Engineer Geoff Slater was pleased with the test and preparations for Bathurst.
“For Bathurst you must have a strong car and one that can go the distance. We are confident we have that package, ” said Slater.
“Preparations for this race have been going on for pretty much 12 months. The final Winton test rounded out our plans and we were all encouraged by that day.
“Bathurst is a very tough race. Everyone wants to win it and the circuit punishes any mistakes. If we can keep it clean, we will be in a position to challenge. “
As part of the Seven Network’s extensive Bathurst coverage, the Fujitsu Racing Falcon will carry an on-board camera.
